Black Bear and Whitetail Deer Hunts
Clearwater Adventures
This camp has a large main lodge, surrounded by private guest cabins. Guest are normally housed two per cabin and each guest cabin has at least two private bedrooms. The main lodge has a large commons room with television, telephone, pool table, bathrooms, showers and large dining area. The camp is located north of Big River and is approximately 3 1/2 hours drive from Saskatoon. This is a fully modern camp; all bedding, linens and daily maid services are furnished. Approximately 12 years have passed since Wes Hixon's Outdoor Adventures started booking this camp exclusively. Obviously, we have plenty of references for you to speak with.
Black Bear: Many of our Spring Black Bear hunters enjoy the fantastic fishing here as much as the bear hunting. Black Bear numbers, trophy quality and color phases are very good in this area. As a matter of fact, we will compare our Black Bear hunting success with any in the industry. Six-day bear hunts cost $2,200 p.p. The fishing is included at no additional charge. All black bear hunts are conducted over bait from ground blinds, shooting houses, and tree stands. We enjoy both archery and gun hunters here, and go to a great effort to have archery only and gun only stands and bait sites.
Whitetail Deer: The current cost for this hunt is $4,000 p.p., however, please note that 2008 hunts will cost $4,000.00 p.p. (due to projected currency exchange rates). These hunts are guided "2x1". Whitetail deer are hunted from comfortable, enclosed, heated stands, or shooting houses. Most hunting is done over baits placed in natural feeding areas or on travel corridors between feeding and bedding areas. Our hunters enjoy a very high success rate here annually.
**Please note** This camp can accommodate guests with physical limitations and some handicaps. We have enclosed ground blinds for those of you who cannot climb, and stands that are easily accessed via 4-wheel drive vehicle, ATV and snow machines for those who have trouble walking.
Typical itinerary for a 6-day Whitetail Deer or Black Bear hunt:
You will fly or drive to Saskatoon, arriving on Saturday, stay in a hotel that night. Your outfitter will meet you at the hotel Sunday morning after breakfast. You will be driven to camp, arriving in time to check your rifle or bow and make sure it is shooting correctly. Get settled in, have dinner, and start hunting on Monday. Whitetail Deer hunters hunt through the following Saturday afternoon returning to Saskatoon Saturday night. Black Bear hunters hunt through the following Friday night, have brunch on Saturday and return to Saskatoon Saturday afternoon. All hunters depart Sunday morning for the trip home.
Your trip is not over if you are successful in harvesting your Black Bear or Whitetail Deer early in the hunt. You can stay and fish, go with your guide to check baits or accompany a friend on his hunt, sightsee, relax and enjoy the pretty country and great food.
Please Note: Should you wish to depart camp after harvesting your Black Bear or Whitetail Deer, we would recommend renting a vehicle in Saskatoon and driving to camp.
