Buffalo Hunts

T

he Buffalo camp is situated on the banks of the Koolatong River in East Arnhemland. This is a beautiful location, in addition to being the most remote camp in the Northern Territory. The camp is very comfortable with four guest cabins, each having double beds and en suite bathrooms and showers. A large screened dining area overlooks the river. The food is excellent and a large selection of wines is always on hand. All linens are furnished. Generated power is used for lights, refrigerator, freezers and washing machine. A satellite phone is available in camp, as well as a small swimming pool. Even though the camp is remote, no creature comforts are overlooked. Wes often tells people, "I go back just for the Barramundi fishing."

It is world class and virtually un-fished. The excellent fishing is included on your hunt at no additional charge. Spinning and bait-casting tackle and lures are furnished. Fly fishermen are required to bring their own gear. Banteng Hunts The Banteng camp is on the Cobourg Peninsula, an approximately 1-hour charter flight from the city of Darwin, situated with a bluff view overlooking the beautiful waters of Port Essington. Even though this camp is remote as well, like the Buffalo camp, it has all the comforts of home. Cabin-style accommodations with showers, bathrooms, double beds and all linens are furnished. The sandy beach in front of camp, the clean waters with schools of fish and dolphins, and the beautiful sunsets over the bay will fill your trip to the Northern Territory of Australia with a lifetime of cherished memories.

Hunting is open year round in Northern Australia, and all species hunted are free range. However, the most comfortable months are from April to September. This is the dry season and temperatures range from 60° F at night to 85° F during the day. The Northern Territory has a variety of game to offer. The Asiatic Water Buffalo is a massive animal, weighing up to 2,000 pounds with heavy, wide horns and an unpredictable disposition. The Banteng is a very illusive animal, with very keen sense of smell and sight. One wrong move and the Banteng is quick to take flight. Scrub Bull, Wild Boar and Feral Goats can be hunted with Buffalo and Banteng. When season is open, Ducks and Geese can be combined as well.
